Abdullahi-Ganduje

In a swift political development, former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Board of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN). The appointment comes just days after his resignation from the APC leadership position.

The announcement was officially made on Tuesday during the formal inauguration ceremony of the newly constituted FAAN Board, held in Abuja. The event was attended by top aviation stakeholders, government officials, and representatives from the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development.

Ganduje, who previously served as the Governor of Kano State for two terms, is expected to bring his wealth of political and administrative experience to the aviation sector. His appointment signals the federal government’s continued efforts to strengthen the leadership of strategic institutions in the country.

During the inauguration, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, emphasized the importance of effective governance and oversight at FAAN, particularly as the agency works to modernize Nigeria’s airport infrastructure and enhance safety and efficiency across the nation’s airspace.

Ganduje expressed gratitude for the opportunity and pledged to contribute meaningfully to the development of the aviation sector, promising to work collaboratively with other board members and stakeholders to achieve the government’s vision for improved air travel services in Nigeria.

His appointment has sparked mixed reactions across the political landscape, with some praising the federal government’s decision, while others question the timing and implications of the move following his recent resignation from party leadership.
