Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Group, has publicly commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for its strides in infrastructure development and flood control measures.

In an open letter titled “Appreciation: Open Letter to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR,” shared on X by Presidential Adviser Bayo Onanuga, Dangote highlighted several key initiatives, including the Eko Atlantic City project and the ongoing construction of major highways nationwide.

Dangote praised Tinubu’s early vision behind the Bar Beach Land Reclamation project, which led to the development of Eko Atlantic City.

The 1,000-hectare city, protected by an 8.5-kilometer sea wall, has not only safeguarded Victoria Island from ocean surges but also created valuable new land for development.

He drew a stark contrast between Nigeria’s proactive planning and recent flash floods in Kerr County, Texas, which claimed over 100 lives.

“This project is one of your legacies. Those of us who live in Victoria Island are much better off for it,” he wrote, pointing to improvements in previously flood-prone areas like Ahmadu Bello Way and Akin Adesola Street.

Dangote also acknowledged Tinubu’s commitment to reviving critical but long-neglected infrastructure projects, such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway. Both projects are being handled by Hitech Construction Company.

Drawing parallels to successful land reclamation efforts in the Netherlands, Dangote described Nigeria’s initiatives as “a testament to resilience and innovation.”

Additionally, Dangote Industries Limited extended condolences to victims of the Texas floods and announced that the Aliko Dangote Foundation would support a Climate Fund to aid flood-prone regions in Nigeria.

In response to the letter, Onanuga described Dangote’s remarks as “an honest appraisal” of Tinubu’s leadership, offering a counterpoint to opposition claims of inaction.
