A large and enthusiastic crowd gathered in Osogbo, Osun State, on Sunday to welcome Rauf Aregbesola, the Interim National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), as the party officially kicked off its membership recruitment drive in the state.
Aregbesola, who governed Osun State from November 2010 to November 2018, recently assumed the role of Interim National Secretary of a new political coalition that has adopted ADC as its platform. This marks his first visit to the state since taking up the position.
Supporters, mostly clad in the green attire associated with Aregbesola’s Oranmiyan political movement, assembled at his former campaign office along Osogbo/Gbongan Road. Their turnout caused significant traffic congestion in the area.
Speaking to PUNCH Online, Abiodun Alabi, an ADC member from Ede South Local Government, said, “We came in nine buses and seven motorcycles to show that ADC is strong in Ede South. We’re fully prepared to take over in 2026.”
Kazeem Badmus, another loyalist from Osogbo, confirmed that the membership drive had officially begun, adding, “We’ve been given clear directives to mobilize and expand the party’s base.”
