Emmanuel Fayose, a governorship aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, has strongly criticised his elder brother and former governor, Ayodele Fayose, for endorsing the All Progressives Congress (APC) and incumbent Governor Biodun Oyebanji ahead of the 2026 election.

At a mega rally in Ado Ekiti on Monday, Ayodele Fayose donning a PDP-branded fez cap publicly backed President Bola Tinubu and Governor Oyebanji for re-election, endorsing their continued leadership till 2031 and 2030, respectively.

Reacting in a statement issued Thursday in Ado Ekiti, Emmanuel described the move as a betrayal of the PDP.

“If Ayodele Fayose can no longer contribute meaningfully to rebuilding the PDP, he should simply leave instead of disgracing himself in public,” Emmanuel said.

He stressed that his brother, who twice governed the state under the PDP, owes the party loyalty.

“His endorsement of Governor Oyebanji is a total betrayal of the very party that gave him everything,” he added.

Emmanuel Fayose also criticised the rally as a “charade” and “show of shame,” claiming the crowd was rented and attendance was poor “fewer than 10,000 people in a state of three million,” he said.

He further accused the APC of breaching INEC regulations regarding campaign conduct and urged the electoral body to take action.

“No individual or party should be above the law,” he concluded.
