The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has mourned the passing of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who died on Monday at the age of 90.
In a condolence message released through his spokesman, Dr. Abdulazeez Arowona, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin, the Emir described the monarch’s death as “the will of Almighty Allah.”
He praised Oba Olakulehin’s brief yet impactful reign, highlighting his contributions to the promotion of peace, preservation of cultural values, and safeguarding of Ibadan’s rich traditions throughout his one-year tenure as Olubadan.
Emir Sulu-Gambari extended his condolences to the royal family, the Olubadan-in-Council, the Oyo State Council of Traditional Rulers, the Oyo State Government, and the entire people of Ibadanland, describing the loss as a significant one for the Yoruba nation.
He offered prayers for the peaceful repose of the late monarch’s soul and asked God to grant his family, the people of Ibadan, and Nigerians in general, the strength and patience to bear the loss.
