Turkish champion Galatasaray have completed the signing of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen from Napoli in what is now the most expensive transfer in the history of the Süper Lig.
According to reports, the deal is worth a staggering €75 million, shattering the previous Turkish transfer record of €19.5 million paid by Fenerbahçe for Youssef En-Nesyri in 2024. The acquisition underscores Galatasaray’s ambitious push to become a serious contender in the UEFA Champions League.
The 26-year-old Osimhen, who enjoyed a highly successful loan stint with the Istanbul giants last season, is expected to sign his permanent contract on Saturday. During the 2024–25 campaign, he netted 37 goals and provided eight assists in 41 appearances, playing a pivotal role in the club’s league and Turkish Cup double. His stellar performances won over fans and made his return a top priority for the club.
Negotiations with Napoli were intense, with the Italian club insisting on the full release clause. Galatasaray will pay €40 million upfront, with an additional €35 million to be paid in installments by 2026. The deal also includes performance-based bonuses of up to €5 million. Napoli has secured a 10% sell-on clause for any future transfer exceeding €75 million and a clause restricting Osimhen from joining another Serie A club before July 2027.
Osimhen will sign a three-year contract reportedly worth between €16 million and €18 million per year, placing him among the highest-paid players in Turkish football history.
Galatasaray’s head coach Okan Buruk revealed that Osimhen’s passion for the club played a major role in sealing the transfer. The striker’s strong bond with the team and fans, coupled with his public expression of love for Galatasaray, proved decisive.
The club has also bolstered its squad by signing Leroy Sane from Bayern Munich on a free transfer. With Osimhen now added on a permanent basis, Galatasaray is making clear its intent to challenge Europe’s elite.
