The immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has explained his absence during President Bola Tinubu’s condolence visit to Kano on Friday.

According to a statement by Ganduje’s former Chief of Staff, Malam Muhammad Garba, the former APC Chairman was unable to attend the visit due to a long-scheduled personal engagement in London, which began five days after his resignation from party leadership.

Garba dismissed rumors that Ganduje was either ill or intentionally excluded from the President’s entourage, emphasizing that his trip had been arranged in advance.

“President Tinubu’s visit was communicated to Dr. Ganduje, and he made frantic efforts to reschedule his travel. However, due to logistical challenges, it was impossible for him to return on time,” Garba stated.

He added that despite being abroad, Ganduje remained in close contact with key APC leaders, including Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin and Kano APC Chairman Abdullahi Abbas, to support preparations for the President’s visit.

Garba also stressed that Ganduje’s resignation as National Chairman does not affect his strong personal and political relationship with President Tinubu.

“The APC in Kano remains fully united and loyal to the President’s vision and the Renewed Hope Agenda,” he said.
