Veteran Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Adebayo Salami, popularly known as Oga Bello, has revealed that he does not intend to leave behind material property for his children, despite being a polygamist.

In an interview with Nigerian Tribune, the iconic actor, who is married to two wives and blessed with 18 children, emphasized that his greatest legacy to his children is education, not wealth or real estate.

According to Oga Bello, his passion for education stems from the challenges he faced growing up without the full support to pursue formal education. He made a personal vow to ensure that all his children regardless of their interests or career paths attained at least a university degree.

“I never expected any of my children to follow in my footsteps in acting. I’m deeply passionate about education. My parents didn’t support my education due to their own limitations, but I made up my mind that all my children must be educated, at least to the first degree level,” he said.

Speaking further, he noted that his decision to focus on education over inheritance became stronger after becoming a polygamist.

“From the beginning, I decided I wouldn’t leave property for my children. All I need are two houses, one in Lagos and one in my hometown. Whatever money is in my account when I’m gone, they can share it. Education is what truly matters to me,” he added.

Oga Bello also spoke about his children’s involvement in the entertainment industry, including his son, Femi Adebayo, a well-known actor and producer. He stressed that he never forced any of his children into acting but supported their interests, as long as they balanced it with strong academic performance.

“They developed a passion for acting on their own. I didn’t push them into it. For example, if they wanted to follow me to rehearsals, I would only allow it if they had good grades. That motivated them to work hard in school,” he said.

The veteran actor expressed deep pride in his children’s achievements, saying he feels fulfilled seeing them excel in their chosen fields, especially knowing they were grounded in education.
