Super Eagles forward and Bayer Leverkusen star, Victor Boniface, has addressed public misconceptions about his personality, saying people often wrongly label him as rude because of his activity on social media.
Speaking on a recent episode of The Culture League podcast, Boniface explained that his habit of sharing savage memes online is simply a form of self-expression, not a reflection of his character.
“A lot of people think I’m rude just because I post savage memes,” Boniface said. “But I’m not rude. I only express myself that way. I never insult anyone online unless they come at me disrespectfully.”
The Nigerian international noted that footballers often face unfair scrutiny due to their reserved lifestyles compared to other public figures, particularly entertainers.
“People assume footballers are proud or unfriendly because we don’t mingle much with others outside our profession. But that’s not true,” he added. “There are things entertainers can do freely that we, as professional athletes, can’t do. So, when we don’t behave like them, some see it as arrogance.”
Boniface also revealed that while he may appear calm on the surface, he has his limits: “Some of us have a hidden craziness that only comes out when provoked. But generally, I’m just calm.”
The 23-year-old striker has become known for his on-field brilliance as well as his off-field personality, which continues to spark both praise and criticism online.
