The Imo State Police Command has prohibited the use of unmarked mini-buses and commercial tricycles (Keke) by its tactical teams during patrol operations across the state.

This directive, issued by the Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, on Tuesday evening, comes in response to widespread complaints from residents alleging harassment, extortion, and intimidation by officers using such vehicles.

Describing the practice as “highly unprofessional,” CP Danjuma warned that any officer or team found violating the new order would face strict disciplinary action.

“The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma, has issued a firm directive banning all tactical teams from using unmarked vehicles, including mini-buses and tricycles, for patrol duties,” the order stated.

He further stressed that commanders of any team flouting this directive would be held responsible for their subordinates’ actions.

The police command also reaffirmed its commitment to professional and accountable policing in line with the standards set by the Inspector General of Police.
