The Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Dare Adeleke, has called on former governor Ayodele Fayose to exit the party, citing his repeated criticisms and disloyalty.

Adeleke’s statement, released on Saturday, was a direct response to Fayose’s Friday interview, where the ex-governor harshly criticised the PDP’s leadership, saying, “The soul of the PDP is gone, the spirit is gone; it is only the body that is remaining.”

Fayose claimed the party had sidelined him despite his sacrifices, predicting that the PDP would come fourth in the next general election. “The PDP has messed up,” he said, accusing the leadership of compromising and sidelining key figures.

Despite his criticism, Fayose insisted, “I remain a member of the PDP and I shall remain a member of the party.”

Adeleke, however, fired back: “Why cling to a party you describe as a ‘carcass’? The PDP has now rejected him. All PDP local government chairmen in Ekiti have disowned him and condemned his conduct.”

Drawing a military analogy, Adeleke added, “Fayose behaves like a soldier selling secrets to the enemy, then demands promotion. In any serious institution, he would’ve been court-martialed.”

He maintained that Fayose’s influence in Ekiti politics was overstated, pointing out that no PDP ward or local government chairman had followed him to the APC or ADC.

“The PDP remains strong,” Adeleke said. “We will win the June 20, 2026 governorship election once the party is free of bad elements. Fayose’s so-called ADC-bound loyalists are irrelevant. Ekiti PDP will rise again—with or without him.”
