Manchester United are set to bolster their goalkeeping department following a hamstring injury to first-choice goalkeeper André Onana, who has also faced a dip in form since joining from Inter Milan in 2023.

The Red Devils have shifted focus to Botafogo’s John Victor and are prepared to activate the Brazilian goalkeeper’s £6 million release clause, according to Goal Brazil. Botafogo, anticipating his departure, have reportedly lined up Atlético Mineiro’s Matheus Mendes as a potential replacement.

United had initially explored a move for Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez, with the Argentina international said to be open to the switch. However, Villa’s £40 million valuation has stalled further talks.

With Onana set to miss the club’s pre-season matches and his availability for the Premier League opener against Arsenal in August still uncertain, United are pushing to secure a new shot-stopper promptly.
