Mohammed Babangida, the eldest son of former Military President Ibrahim Babangida, has denied reports circulating on social media claiming he rejected his recent appointment as Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Agriculture (BOA).

In a statement released by his media aide, Alhaji Mahmud Abdullahi, the widely shared letter purportedly showing Babangida turning down the appointment was described as “fake” and the work of “disgruntled elements.”

“Mohammed Babangida did not reject the appointment. The letter in circulation is fake. In fact, the signature on the document is not his, and the phone numbers listed do not belong to him,” Abdullahi stated.

He further clarified that Babangida has gladly accepted the appointment as announced by the federal government and expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for the confidence and trust placed in him.

“We also want to assure the public that those responsible for spreading this falsehood will be investigated and brought to justice. Our commitment remains rooted in transparency, accountability, and the promotion of national unity,” the statement concluded.

Mohammed Babangida’s appointment was among a series of key leadership positions recently approved by President Tinubu as part of efforts to strengthen federal institutions.
