Fenerbahce manager, José Mourinho, has declared his first Chelsea squad as the greatest team in Premier League history, snubbing Arsenal’s iconic 2003/04 ‘Invincibles’.

Mourinho, who took charge of Chelsea for the first time between 2004 and 2006 after departing FC Porto, said his Chelsea side surpassed Arsenal’s unbeaten run in terms of overall dominance and number of wins.

In an interview with Canal 11, the Portuguese tactician explained: “I think Chelsea was the best Premier League team ever. Arsenal were invincible, but it was only for one season. We were more invincible than them across two seasons.

“They won 38 games in that season, but we won 46 which spread across two different campaigns. They were a fantastic side, no doubt, but what we achieved was greater.”

Mourinho’s Chelsea team, built on a solid defence and winning mentality, won back-to-back Premier League titles in 2004/05 and 2005/06, setting several records in the process.
