The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator (Dr.) Ajibola Basiru, has commended the founder of King 87.9 FM, Osogbo, Barrister Abimbola Amusan, for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to excellence in media entrepreneurship.
Dr. Basiru gave the commendation during a weekend visit to the newly established radio station located along the Osogbo/Iragbiji expressway in Osun State.
Describing Amusan as a man of rare courage and dedication, the APC chieftain lauded his efforts in establishing a platform aimed at promoting professionalism, public service, and community development.
“Barrister Abimbola Amusan is not only a seasoned legal practitioner who once served with distinction at my law firm, Ajibola Basiru & Co., but also a trailblazing entrepreneur and a patriotic son of Osun State,” Basiru said. “His pursuit of excellence—evident from his legal practice to his academic journey in the United States and now in the media space—is truly commendable.”
He further noted that Amusan currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer of a global financial technology company, Vesti, while also making remarkable strides in the Nigerian media landscape.
Dr. Basiru expressed confidence that King 87.9 FM would set new standards in broadcast journalism, citing the station’s state-of-the-art facilities and strong emphasis on content that educates, informs, and uplifts the public.
“King 87.9 FM is poised to become a major force in Osun State’s communication and entertainment sectors. I am confident it will emerge as a reference point not just locally, but nationally,” he stated.
In his remarks, Barrister Amusan expressed deep appreciation to Senator Basiru for the visit and the words of encouragement. He announced that King 87.9 FM will commence full transmission in August 2025.
Amusan reaffirmed the station’s commitment to people-centered programming, promising content that promotes development, civic awareness, and societal growth.
