The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially named Manu Garba and Moses Aduku as head coaches of the country’s U-17 and U-20 women’s national teams, the Golden Eaglets and Falconets, respectively.
Garba returns for his third spell as head coach of the Golden Eaglets, having previously led Nigeria to victory at the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup and the 2015 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
His appointment was ratified by the NFF Executive Committee, following recommendations from the Technical and Development subcommittee.
In 2019, Garba also managed the U-17 team at the FIFA World Cup in Brazil and has a strong track record of developing young talent, many of whom have progressed to the senior national team. His immediate task is to prepare the Golden Eaglets for the WAFU B U-17 tournament, which Nigeria will host later this year.
On the women’s side, Moses Aduku replaces Chris Danjuma as head coach of the Falconets. Danjuma led the team during their campaign at the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia.
Aduku, currently the head coach of Edo Queens, brings extensive experience in women’s football. He previously managed Bayelsa Queens and served as an assistant coach during the Falconets’ quarter-final run at the 2022 U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica.
Both Garba and Aduku will assume their new roles this weekend. The Falconets are set to face Rwanda in a 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier in September, while the Golden Eaglets will compete for regional dominance at the WAFU B U-17 tournament, also scheduled for September.
