Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has disowned two widely circulated statements falsely attributed to him on social media and various online platforms.

In a press release issued on Wednesday, Obi’s media aide, Umar Ibrahim, clarified that neither of the viral statements originated from Obi or his media office.

One of the fabricated statements claimed Obi had denied any plans to return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) while reaffirming his alleged loyalty to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The other falsely suggested that he had been offered the role of National Organising Secretary in the ADC.

“Peter Obi has been clear and consistent in his position on the ongoing coalition efforts,” Ibrahim stated. “He remains focused on his mission and will not tolerate false statements being attributed to him to serve someone’s hidden agenda.”

Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, continues to be the subject of political speculation, but his team insists he is unwavering in his goal of building what he calls “a new Nigeria of our dreams.”

The media office urged the public to disregard any statements attributed to Obi that do not come directly from his official media team or verified social media accounts.
