The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Osun State has reached out to former Senator Adenigba Fadahunsi, inviting him to join its fold ahead of the upcoming governorship election.

Fadahunsi, who formerly represented Osun East in the Senate, recently resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), alongside Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi of Osun Central. The duo attributed their departure to persistent internal crises and unresolved legal disputes within the PDP at the national level.

In response, the socio-cultural organization Ijesa Unite for Good Governance described Fadahunsi’s exit as a significant blow to the PDP.

In a statement issued Thursday in Osogbo, the group’s National Coordinator, Kazeem Ibikunle, voiced deep concern over the loss of what he termed one of the party’s most dedicated leaders in the state.

“It’s unfortunate that the PDP failed to retain one of its strongest pillars,” Ibikunle said. “Senator Fadahunsi was instrumental in revitalizing the party during challenging times. His dedication and sacrifices were key to the party’s resurgence and the eventual election of Governor Ademola Adeleke.”

Meanwhile, Osun NNPP Chairman Tosin Odeyemi also issued a statement on Thursday, urging Fadahunsi to align with the NNPP. He praised the senator’s influence and leadership, calling him a valuable asset.

“Senator Fadahunsi commands respect and widespread support across Osun and beyond,” Odeyemi noted. “We warmly invite him to the NNPP, where his experience and vision can help drive meaningful change for the people of Osun and Nigeria at large.”
