The All Progressives Congress (APC) has named Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, as its new National Chairman.

His appointment was ratified on Thursday during the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, officially succeeding Abdullahi Ganduje, who stepped down last month citing health concerns.

Following Ganduje’s resignation, the Deputy National Chairman (North), Ali Bukar Dalori, had been serving in an acting capacity. Many party stakeholders had anticipated that the NEC would confirm Dalori’s leadership and assign him the responsibility of organising an elective national convention to produce a substantive chairman. However, the committee opted to install Yilwatda as the new party leader.
