Real Madrid advanced to the semi-finals of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup after a dramatic 3-2 victory over Borussia Dortmund in Saturday’s quarter-final at the MetLife Stadium.
The Spanish giants took early control of the match, with quick-fire goals from Gonzalo Garcia and Fran Garcia putting them 2-0 up. It looked like a routine win until the game erupted in stoppage time.
Dortmund’s Maximilian Beier pulled one back in the 93rd minute, sparking hopes of a comeback. However, Kylian Mbappe responded with a spectacular overhead kick to restore Madrid’s two-goal cushion.
Moments later, Serhou Guirassy converted a penalty for Dortmund after Madrid’s Dean Huijsen received a late red card.
With the victory, Real Madrid now prepare for a high-stakes semi-final clash against European champions Paris Saint-Germain.
