American rap legend Snoop Dogg has officially become a co-owner of Swansea City, a team competing in England’s Championship league, marking an unexpected crossover between hip-hop and football, the Welsh club confirmed.

The 53-year-old entertainer joins Croatian football icon and former Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric in the club’s ownership group. Snoop recently appeared on Swansea’s social media, modeling the team’s 2025-26 home kit, and his investment was formally announced on Thursday.

His entry into the club follows the takeover by U.S. entrepreneurs Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen in November. With over 100 million followers across social media, Snoop Dogg real name Calvin Broadus is expected to elevate Swansea’s global profile as the club eyes a return to the Premier League, having been relegated in 2018.

The new owners aim to boost revenue streams to fund player acquisitions within the confines of British football’s profit and sustainability regulations.

Speaking via the club’s website, Snoop Dogg said, “Everyone knows I love football, but becoming a co-owner of Swansea City is something truly meaningful. The city’s working-class roots and the club’s underdog spirit resonate with me. I’m honored to be part of the journey.”

Back in April, Swansea revealed that Luka Modric had also purchased a stake in the club. Modric has since moved to AC Milan at age 39, after his storied stint at Real Madrid.

In a statement, Swansea’s owners referenced one of Snoop’s famous lyrics, saying, “To quote Snoop, this is the next episode for Swansea City. His global appeal will be a powerful asset in expanding the club’s reach. He’s been enthusiastic throughout the process and shares our vision.”

Snoop’s investment mirrors the successful model of Wrexham AFC, Swansea’s Welsh rivals, who rose to the Championship following their 2020 acquisition by Hollywood duo Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
