A 19-year-old, Mustapha Adamu, has been taken into custody by the Gombe State Police Command after he allegedly stabbed his friend, Yahuza Labaran, to death following a heated argument.
The incident occurred on Monday at Kulani Chessi village in Balanga Local Government Area of the state.
According to reports, the two friends had gone to the farm together when a disagreement broke out between them around 3pm. Although the exact cause of the dispute remains unclear, it quickly escalated into violence.
During the altercation, Adamu reportedly drew a knife and stabbed 20-year-old Labaran in the shoulder, inflicting severe injuries. The victim was rushed to Balanga General Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival by medical personnel.
Confirming the incident in a phone interview, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Buhari Abdullahi, said the police got the report on Tuesday and acted swiftly to apprehend the suspect.
According to Abdullahi, Adamu admitted during questioning that he had no intention to kill his friend but acted out of rage.
“We are still investigating the matter. The suspect will be charged to court soon,” Abdullahi said.
