Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has described the electorate as his greatest asset and expressed hope that they will continue to support his bid to remain in office as governor.

Adeleke spoke on Sunday at the 11th undergraduate and 7th postgraduate convocation ceremonies of Adeleke University, Ede, where he bagged an honorary doctorate.

The governor acknowledged the affection expressed for him by the people of the state and promised not to grow weary.

“Osun people have been our strength, and they continue to be our strength. As in every true democracy, the people are the ultimate determinant of power.

“The power of voters to enthrone leaders through the ballot has been our greatest asset. We belong to the people and we acknowledge the love and the deep love from the street and every corner of Osun state,” Adeleke said.

Speaking on his performance in office for close to three years as governor, Adeleke said he had surprised many people within and outside the country, adding that his achievements were products of a passionate urge to serve the people.

He said, “We innovate, we sacrifice, and we think out of the box to positively transform several sectors of our society.

While congratulating the graduating students for their achievements, the governor expressed hope that society would benefit from their expertise.

Addressing the gathering, the Pro-Chancellor of Adeleke University, Dr Deji Adeleke, lamented the electoral fraud that often renders votes meaningless during elections in the country, noting that the situation was having a negative impact on the economy.

Giving details of the graduating students, the VC said, “For the first time in the history of our university, two students have emerged as the best graduating undergraduate students with a CGPA of 5.00.

“They are Jeg Tigwog, from the Department of Languages and Literary Studies and Awotayo Taiwo Samuel, from the Department of Political Science.
