As Nigeria’s Super Falcons prepare to face hosts Morocco in the final of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), President Bola Tinubu has issued a stirring message of support, urging the team to return home with the trophy and a record-extending 10th title.

In a statement released on Saturday, Tinubu hailed the Falcons for their commanding performance throughout the tournament, describing their journey as “awe-inspiring” and a source of national pride.

He praised the team not only for their skill and determination on the pitch but also for the dignity and sportsmanship they have shown off it.

The President pointed to the Falcons’ unbeaten run and solid defensive record as evidence of their strength, remarking, “If statistics alone win matches, you are already champions.”

He also commended the team for a recent gesture of compassion their visit to injured South African player Gabriela Salgado which he called a symbol of “shared humanity, empathy, and African sisterhood.

With Nigeria having won all nine of their previous WAFCON final appearances, Tinubu expressed full confidence in the team’s ability to maintain their perfect record and bring home yet another title.

To underline the nation’s support, a high-level delegation led by government ministers and sports officials has traveled to Rabat to cheer on the Falcons in person.

Tinubu also acknowledged the contributions of the coaching staff, families, and the Nigerian supporters in Morocco who have stood firmly behind the team throughout the competition.

Ending his message with a rousing call, the President urged the team to seize the moment: “Go for the tenth! Bring the trophy home. Your fellow Nigerians, young and old, are rooting for you. You will finish strong by the grace of God.”

Tinubu said he eagerly awaits the team’s triumphant return to Abuja trophy in hand.
