Manchester United have reportedly made goalkeeper André Onana available for transfer, placing a £30 million price tag on the Cameroonian, according to the Daily Mail. The decision comes just a year after the club signed him from Inter Milan for £47.2 million.
French Ligue 1 side AS Monaco, who expressed initial interest last month, remain keen on the 28-year-old but are reportedly reluctant to meet United’s current valuation. While they continue to monitor the situation, a summer move appears unlikely at this stage.
Saudi Pro League newcomers NEOM SC were also interested but ended their pursuit after Onana made it clear he had no desire to move to the Middle East. The Saudi side has since secured the signing of Polish goalkeeper Marcin Bulka from Nice.
Despite the transfer speculation, Onana is expected to remain at Old Trafford—at least for now. He returned to pre-season training at Carrington on Monday, where he reportedly impressed new manager Rúben Amorim and goalkeeping coach Jorge Vital, both of whom are said to be confident in his abilities heading into the new campaign.
Onana’s first season in England was marked by inconsistency and criticism, particularly for errors in Premier League and Europa League matches. However, Amorim is believed to be focusing his summer transfer priorities on strengthening United’s attacking options, rather than making wholesale changes to the squad.
United remain open to selling Onana if a club is willing to meet their £30m valuation. Should he depart, potential replacements include Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martínez and Atalanta’s Marco Carnesecchi, both of whom are reportedly on the radar of INEOS, the club’s part-owners.
