The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a woman, Augustina Mowari, for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend, Michael Ikuedowoni, to death during a dispute over suspected infidelity.
The tragic incident occurred on Sunday in Okitipupa, the headquarters of Okitipupa Local Government Area of the state, following an argument that turned violent.
According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Olayinka Ayanlade, the suspect is currently in police custody, and investigations have commenced.
“There was an argument between them, and the suspect stabbed the victim with a pair of scissors. Sadly, he later died at the hospital,” Ayanlade said, adding that the case would be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
A source familiar with the matter, who requested anonymity, revealed that the couple had been living together in a one-room apartment and had experienced ongoing disputes rooted in trust issues and accusations of cheating.
The source explained, “They had been having frequent arguments. The woman accused Michael of being unfaithful, which led to a serious confrontation. During the altercation, she allegedly stabbed him in the leg with scissors.”
Michael was initially treated and discharged from a nearby hospital after receiving injections and medications. However, his condition worsened later at home, with his leg becoming severely swollen. He was rushed back to the hospital on Sunday night, where he unfortunately died despite medical efforts.
The police have assured that justice will be pursued as the investigation progresses.
