The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a stern warning to members openly endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid, urging them to withdraw such support or face sanctions for anti-party activities.

In a statement by National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the NWC said the actions of these members violate Section 10(6) of the PDP Constitution, which prohibits aligning with other parties or groups in ways that undermine the PDP. It also cited Section 59(1) as the basis for disciplinary measures.

The warning follows a series of public endorsements for Tinubu by senior PDP figures. These include Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, who in June declared himself an “asset” to Tinubu’s campaign; Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and the state PDP caucus, who recently described Tinubu as a “proud son of Osun”; Ogun State’s former governorship candidate Ladi Adebutu and the entire state chapter; and former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, who attended an APC rally while retaining PDP membership.

According to the NWC, such conduct has fuelled divisions, disaffection, and a “heavy haemorrhaging” of members developments it says could harm the party’s electoral prospects if left unchecked. The committee has issued formal reprimands and demanded public retractions.

The PDP urged all members to close ranks ahead of its National Convention scheduled for 15–16 November 2025 in Ibadan, Oyo State.

“The NWC charges all members of the party to remain loyal, focused, and work assiduously towards the successful conduct of the PDP National Convention,” the statement added.
