Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to transparency and responsible financial management despite the continued withholding of local government allocations.
Speaking in Ilesa during the enrolment of inmates in the state’s two correctional centres into the Osun Health Insurance Scheme (OHIS), Adeleke noted that strategic spending and increased internally generated revenue have kept the state running effectively over the past seven months.
He emphasized that even in the face of limited resources, his administration has maintained progress by prioritizing expenditures and prudently managing special project funds.
Adeleke expressed confidence that the unresolved local government issue would soon be addressed through constitutional and legal means.
Highlighting a commitment to inclusive governance, the governor stressed the importance of equitable access to healthcare, noting that enrolling inmates into OHIS demonstrates the state’s belief in health coverage for all, regardless of social status or circumstance.
Appreciation came from the Controller of Corrections in Osun, Rotimi Olalekan, who revealed that 1,200 inmates were approved for enrolment following an appeal relayed through OHIS Executive Secretary, Dr. Rasaq Akindele.
Olalekan also used the opportunity to request further support in improving security and infrastructure at correctional facilities. He praised the governor for being responsive to their needs and taking timely action.
