The All Progressives Congress has published the schedule of activities for the 2026 governorship election in Ekiti State, outlining important dates and steps for party aspirants and members.
The timetable, signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, was released on the party’s official X account on Friday. It indicates that the process began on July 25, 2025, with a formal notice of election issued to the state chapter. An update of the membership register started on July 28 and is set to close on August 15, 2025.
The party made it clear that only members whose names are on the register and who are up to date with their membership dues will be eligible to vote or contest.
Sales of nomination and expression of interest forms for the governorship race will take place from August 18 to September 2, 2025. The deadline for submitting the completed forms, including all required documents and delegate forms, is September 11, 2025.
Screening of aspirants is scheduled for September 23 and 24, with the results to be released on September 25. Any appeals related to the screening must be filed by September 26.
The Delegates Congress will hold on October 2, followed by an appeal process on October 3.
The party’s primary election will be conducted on October 27, with appeals from the exercise scheduled for October 29 and 30. A congress to ratify the outcome of the primary, as required by the Electoral Act, will be held on October 28.
Aspirants can collect access codes for form submission beginning November 10. The list of nominated candidates is to be submitted to the National Working Committee by January 7, 2026, and the final list must be uploaded to the INEC portal by January 16, 2026.
Campaign activities will officially kick off on April 6, 2026, and conclude with a final campaign rally on June 18. The governorship election is scheduled for June 20, 2026.
The cost for nomination and expression of interest forms is set at 50 million naira 10 million for the expression of interest form and 40 million for the nomination form.
Female aspirants and persons with disabilities are required to purchase only the expression of interest form, as the nomination form will be provided at no cost. Aspirants aged 25 to 40 will pay for the expression of interest form and receive a 50 percent discount on the nomination form.
The delegate form is priced at 5,000 naira. To qualify, members must have paid at least 200 naira monthly for a minimum of three months before the delegate congress.
