Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed strong confidence that the club is ready to end its long wait for silverware, insisting that belief within the team is at an all-time high.

Since winning the FA Cup in his debut season in 2019/20, Arteta has yet to lift another trophy. However, under his leadership, Arsenal have re-established themselves as serious contenders, finishing second in the Premier League for three consecutive seasons and reaching the Champions League semi-finals for the first time since 2009.

With another summer of heavy investment, the pressure is mounting on Arteta to finally deliver major honours. The Gunners have splashed nearly £200 million ($266 million) on new signings, including striker Viktor Gyokeres, midfielders Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard, centre-back Cristhian Mosquera, winger Noni Madueke, and goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Speaking in his programme notes ahead of Wednesday’s pre-season clash with Villarreal, Arteta struck a determined tone.

“We know exactly what we want to achieve this season and there is a strong belief in our ability to do so,” he said. “We’ve come very close in recent years. Now, it’s up to the team to take the final step.”

He emphasized the importance of daily focus and setting high internal standards.

“We can’t lose sight of what needs to happen every day to reach our goals. The expectations we set for ourselves must always be greater than those from the outside.”

Arteta also stressed the role of fan support, particularly at the Emirates Stadium.

“We want to build a sense of invincibility at home. That energy, that passion, and the connection with our fans it all plays a part in making us stronger. We want our people to feel that every time we play here, we’re going to win.”

Arsenal will kick off their 2025/26 Premier League campaign with a high-stakes showdown against Manchester United at Old Trafford on August 17.
