Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has returned to Bayer Leverkusen after AC Milan delayed approval of his proposed move due to medical concerns.
The 24-year-old Nigerian forward spent two days in Italy undergoing detailed examinations at La Madonnina clinic and Galeazzi Hospital. However, the Serie A giants are yet to sanction the transfer, citing caution over the player’s injury record.
Boniface previously suffered two cruciate ligament injuries during his spell at Norwegian side Bodø/Glimt in 2019, as well as recurring muscle problems, factors believed to have influenced Milan’s hesitation.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed on Sunday that while the tests were completed, the results did not fully satisfy Milan’s medical team. “After medical tests at AC Milan, Victor Boniface returns to Germany, as there’s still no green light to his move,” Romano stated. “After 48 hours in Milano, Boniface will be back in Leverkusen today, waiting for AC Milan’s imminent decision.”
The deal on the table is reported to be a loan agreement worth €5 million, with an option to buy for €24 million. Milan are expected to reach a final decision in the coming days.
