A 50-year-old man, Modu Isa, has been rescued after attempting to take his own life in Bama, Borno State.
The incident, which occurred on Friday evening in Hausari Ward, was reported by security analyst Zagazola Makama on his X handle.
According to eyewitnesses, Isa inflicted three stab wounds on himself before cutting off his penis with a knife. Community members quickly intervened and alerted security operatives, who arrived at the scene to rescue him.
It was gathered that Isa’s action followed his frustration after his ex-wife, Bayanxe Modu from Konduga whom he had divorced three times refused to return to his home despite his pleas.
Police operatives recovered the knife used in the act and evacuated Isa to the General Hospital in Bama, where he is said to be responding to treatment.
The case has since been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Maiduguri for further investigation.
