Ruth Otabor, sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner Phyna, has died following complications from a recent accident.
Her death was confirmed in a statement released on Sunday by Eko Solicitors & Advocates on behalf of the family.
According to the statement, Ruth passed away at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, August 31, 2025.
“With heavy hearts, the family regrets to announce the passing to glory of their daughter, sister, and mother this 31st day of August, 2025, at about 06:30 hrs,” the statement read.
The family also requested privacy during this difficult time “The family is presently grieving and will appreciate being given a private moment to mourn the departed,” it added.
Details regarding the funeral arrangements will be announced later.
Ruth was involved in a severe accident on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, just six days after graduating from Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State.
She was struck by a truck reportedly linked to the Dangote Group near the institution. Eyewitnesses stated that the truck crushed her leg before it was brought to a halt by a bystander.
As a result of the accident, Ruth underwent a leg amputation. Despite efforts to save her life, she passed away two weeks later, leaving her family, friends, and fans devastated.
