Chelsea Football Club will contribute a portion of their FIFA Club World Cup winnings to the family of late Liverpool forward Diogo Jota and his brother, André Silva.

The Blues clinched the title in July with a 3-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the final at the MetLife Stadium, New Jersey, on July 13, earning the club an estimated $114.6 million (£84.4m).

According to The Athletic, $15.5 million (£11.4m) was allocated to be shared among the players in manager Enzo Maresca’s squad. In a gesture of solidarity, both the club and players agreed to donate an equal share to Jota’s family. Each player’s share was valued at over $500,000 before deductions for currency exchange, taxes, and other costs.

Jota and Silva, who played for Liverpool in England and Portuguese club Penafiel respectively, tragically died in a car accident in Spain’s Zamora province on July 3 just 10 days before Chelsea’s final victory.

Liverpool have also announced several tributes to honour the Portugal international, including a memorial sculpture at Anfield, a “Forever 20” emblem on players’ kits for the 2025/26 season, and a grassroots football initiative in his name through the LFC Foundation.
