Crystal Palace have secured their maiden Community Shield triumph, edging Liverpool 3–2 on penalties after a thrilling encounter at Wembley.
The FA Cup holders twice came from behind in regulation time, with Jean-Philippe Mateta and Ismaila Sarr cancelling out debut goals from Liverpool’s Hugo Ekitike and Jeremie Frimpong.
In the decisive shootout, Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson emerged as the hero, denying Alexis Mac Allister and Harvey Elliott, while Mohamed Salah fired over the bar. Liverpool’s Alisson also saved from Eberechi Eze, and Borna Sosa struck the crossbar, but Oliver Glasner’s side held their nerve to claim the historic victory.
