The Dangote Group has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Ruth Otabor, sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Phyna.
Ruth died from injuries sustained in a recent road accident involving a Dangote truck in Auchi, Edo State.
The company shared the news via a statement released on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, signed by its management.
According to the statement, Ruth had been critically injured in the accident. Before her passing, arrangements were already underway to fly her to India for advanced medical treatment, pending clearance from her doctors.
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Ruth Otabor, who was injured in the recent road incident involving one of our trucks in Auchi, Edo State,” the statement read.
“On behalf of the entire Dangote Group, we extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and loved ones at this difficult time.”
The company also noted that since the incident occurred, its officials and insurance partners had been actively involved covering all medical expenses and providing continued support to Ruth’s family.
“Sadly, despite these efforts and Ruth’s brave fight to live, we lost her today,” the company added.
Dangote Group reaffirmed its commitment to safety, accountability, and compassion in all its operations.
“We remain committed to strengthening our safety systems and supporting those affected in moments of tragedy. May God grant her mercy and eternal rest,” the statement concluded.
