Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has declared that the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) victory in the recent by-elections indicates a smooth path to re-election for President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

Governor Okpebholo made the statement on Sunday following the victories of APC candidates Joe Ikpea and Omosede Igbinedion in Saturday’s federal constituency by-elections.

In a press release issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, the governor applauded the electorate for turning out in large numbers to support the party’s candidates.

“This victory is a clear signal of the confidence our people have in the APC and its candidates,” Okpebholo said. “With this strong mandate, I am confident that the 2027 presidential election will be a walkover for President Tinubu in Edo State.”

He expressed optimism that both Ikpea and Igbinedion would serve as effective representatives in the National Assembly, advocating for development and championing the interests of Edo Central and Ovia Federal Constituency.

“I have no doubt that they will be powerful voices for our state, tirelessly working to bring progress and attention to their constituencies,” he added.

Governor Okpebholo also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting what he described as a free, fair, and credible election.

He further praised security agencies for ensuring peace and order throughout the electoral process.

He urged stakeholders across the political spectrum to support the newly elected lawmakers in their service to the state and reiterated his administration’s commitment to collaborating with all elected officials regardless of party affiliation for the advancement of Edo State.

“On behalf of the Government and the people of Edo State, I congratulate Joe Ikpea and Omosede Igbinedion on their victories. We look forward to a productive partnership that will deliver positive change and prosperity for our state,” Okpebholo concluded.
