The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of pursuing a politically motivated campaign against opposition leaders, naming former Senate President and ADC Interim National Chairman, David Mark, as the agency’s latest target.

In a statement on Tuesday, ADC’s Acting National Publicity Secretary, Bola Abdullahi, criticized what he described as a “choreographed media trial” of opposition figures.

He pointed to the recent detention of former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal and the interrogation of former Imo State Governor Emeka Ihedioha as evidence of a pattern.

“The EFCC is now reopening files from David Mark’s tenure ten years after he left office,” Abdullahi said. “Meanwhile, prominent APC figures with more recent and serious allegations remain untouched. This is selective justice.”

The party alleged that the actions are part of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) strategy to weaken the opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections, calling the probes a “witch-hunt disguised as anti-corruption.”

Abdullahi added“Tambuwal’s arrest and Ihedioha’s sudden investigation long after leaving office are intimidation tactics aimed at silencing opposition voices, not pursuing justice.”
