The Enugu State Police Command has apprehended three suspects in connection with armed robbery and cult-related activities in the state.

The arrests, according to the Command, also led to the recovery of firearms, a motorcycle, and other incriminating items.

The Command’s spokesperson, Superintendent of Police Daniel Ndukwe, in a statement issued late Tuesday night, said the operation was part of sustained efforts to clamp down on violent crimes across Enugu.

“We will arraign the suspects in court once investigations are concluded,” Ndukwe stated.

The Commissioner of Police, Mamman Giwa, lauded the operatives for the successful arrests and urged them to sustain the momentum, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to rid the state of criminal elements.

The suspects were identified as 28-year-old Okafor Chukwuka, arrested on August 20 with a locally made double-barrel gun; 45-year-old Emeka Odo; and 35-year-old Ugochukwu Eze, both arrested on August 18 with stolen items and firearms.

Ndukwe disclosed, “Preliminary investigations link the suspect Okafor to an armed robbery incident that occurred in Nara Unataeze, Nkanu East LGA, about two weeks earlier, during which a motorcycle was snatched at gunpoint.”

He added that Odo confessed to robbing a motorcyclist and selling the stolen motorcycle to Eze. Items recovered from the suspects include firearms, live cartridges, charms, and a motorcycle.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police encouraged members of the public to collaborate with security agencies by providing timely and credible information.

“The Command is determined to sustain its efforts in combating crime and will not relent in making Enugu State safe for all law-abiding residents,” he said.
