Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has cautioned teenage sensation Estevao after his impressive performance in the Blues’ emphatic 5-1 win over West Ham on Friday.
The 18-year-old Brazilian winger was drafted into the starting XI as a late replacement for injured playmaker Cole Palmer and delivered a man-of-the-match performance. Estevao provided an assist for Enzo Fernandez and was a constant threat throughout the game, but Maresca was quick to highlight areas he must improve.
Speaking after the match, Maresca said:“ He is very young and a fantastic player. I am very happy with him. But he also has to adapt because the goal we conceded came from him trying to make a flick in the middle of the pitch.”
Despite that mistake, Estevao made history as Chelsea’s youngest-ever player to register a Premier League assist. He also led the team in key attacking metrics, including dribbles, tackles, and passes into the final third.
Signed from Palmeiras this summer, the Brazilian is already being tipped as one of football’s brightest emerging talents. His sparkling display against the Hammers suggests Chelsea may have unearthed a star for the future.
Meanwhile, fans will be waiting anxiously for updates on Palmer’s groin injury, which forced him out before kick-off. Until his return, attention will remain on Estevao, who could feature again when Chelsea host Fulham in their next Premier League clash.
