Renowned Nigerian filmmaker and television producer, Kayode Peters, has been laid to rest in Canada.

 

The burial took place on Saturday, August 2, 2025, during a private ceremony attended by family and close friends.

 

A video circulating on social media shows mourners in solemn tribute as Peters’ body was lowered into the grave.

 

The Christian service featured hymns such as the emotional classic “It Is Well,” sung through tears by those present.

 

PUNCH Online had earlier reported that the 49-year-old passed away on June 28 in Toronto, following a battle with an undisclosed illness.

 

Peters, a celebrated figure in Nigerian entertainment, began his creative journey with Theatre 15 at the University of Lagos. He later transitioned into television, where he left an indelible mark.

 

He gained widespread fame for creating the hit sitcom Flatmates in 2004 and served as the executive producer of its modern adaptation, My Flatmates.

 

His other credits include notable productions like Twilight Zone and Papa Ajasco and Company.
