Nigerian celebrity chef and Guinness World Record holder, Hilda Baci, is set to make history again this time by cooking the world’s largest pot of Jollof rice.
Baci made the announcement in an Instagram post on Friday, revealing that the event will take place on September 12, 2025, in partnership with culinary brand Gino.
According to her, the ambitious culinary feat will involve a massive pot measuring six metres wide and six metres tall.
“Almost two years ago, I dreamt of cooking the largest pot of Jollof rice ever made. With @ginonaija and YOU, that dream is coming true,” she wrote.
“Six meters wide. Six meters tall. September 12, we make history together. Because what is Jollof without you to share it with?”
In a video accompanying the post, Baci described the project as a cultural celebration that goes beyond food.
“Some dreams keep us awake until we make them real,” she said. “In 2023, it was the Cook-a-thon. This year, it’s Jollof, the heartbeat of West Africa. It’s more than cooking. It’s a celebration of our food, culture, music, and people.”
Baci first captured international attention in May 2023, when she completed a 100-hour cooking marathon in Lagos, earning her a place in the Guinness World Records.
“Two years ago, I envisioned the largest pot of Nigerian Jollof rice ever made. Today, with Gino a brand we all grew up with that vision is becoming reality,” she added.
