Nigerian music star Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, popularly known as Ayra Starr, has declared that she no longer feels the need to prove herself to anyone in the music industry.
The Grammy-nominated singer, famed for hits like Sabi Girl, said she has reached a point in her career where her only focus is on meeting her own standards and creative goals.
Speaking in a recent interview with BBC Radio 1Xtra in London, Ayra Starr revealed that her new mindset is shaping the kind of music she now creates.
“I’m in a very comfortable place where I don’t see the need to prove myself to anybody other than myself,” she explained.
She added that her latest single, Hot Body, reflects this confidence and self-assurance.
“I released my song Hot Body because I feel like this is the right time. I’m in the right headspace. I feel good. Right now, my body feels better than it ever has. I didn’t just release it because it sounds good but it represents exactly how I feel.”
