The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Ibadan North Federal Constituency by-election, Mr. Adewale Olatunji, on Saturday expressed disappointment over the low voter turnout during the poll.

Olatunji, who voted at 11:25 a.m. at Ward 10, Unit 27, located at Bodija Police Station near the Oyo State Housing Corporation, described the public apathy as disheartening.

Despite improvements in the voting process, he noted that by-elections in Nigeria typically suffer from low participation.

“If you want us to represent you, then you must come out and play your part,” Olatunji urged residents.

Meanwhile, Mr. Folajimi Oyekunle, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, who voted at the same polling unit, commended the peaceful conduct of the election.

“Everything is going smoothly at my polling unit. I’ve cast my vote without any issues,” Oyekunle said.

Elsewhere, there was a stronger voter presence at Ward 11, Units 17, 18, and 42 in the Abadina area of the University of Ibadan. Mr. Sunday Unabo, a voter at Unit 17, confirmed that INEC officials arrived early.

“The process is smooth. However, some voters were confused after their polling units were changed by INEC without prior notice,” he added.

Similarly, a notable turnout was reported at Ward 4, Unit 12, beside NTA Ibadan.
