Comfort Emmanson, the Ibom Air passenger recently discharged by an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court in Lagos, has shared her first public statement after leaving Kirikiri Prison.
In an Instagram post on Wednesday, Emmanson expressed gratitude to her friends, supporters, and well-wishers for their prayers and encouragement during her detention. She also revealed that she is still recovering from the physical and emotional toll of the ordeal.
“Thank you so much for all the prayers, love, and support. I’ve been released from prison, but I’m still in pain from how I was treated. I just need some rest and medical treatment before sharing my own side of the story. I really appreciate you all from the bottom of my heart. God bless you all. THANK YOU MY GREAT GOD!!!”
Her statement came just hours after the court struck out the five-count charge against her, which accused her of disrupting the peace aboard an Ibom Air flight, assaulting a crew member, and engaging in conduct capable of breaching public order.
The case was dismissed after both the complainant and the airline informed the court they no longer wished to pursue the matter. Presiding Magistrate Olanrewaju Salami subsequently ordered her immediate discharge.
