Former Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido, has called on the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to expel FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, former Benue Governor Samuel Ortom, and ex-Abia Governor Okezie Ikpeazu over alleged anti-party behavior.
Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, Lamido accused the three politicians of campaigning against the PDP in the 2023 general election and now expressing support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 polls.
“Wike, Ortom, Ikpeazu and others who openly campaigned against our party in 2023 and are now aligning with the APC for 2027 should be expelled,” Lamido said.
He criticized what he described as a culture of impunity in the PDP, noting that some members had prioritized personal ambition over party unity during the 2022 primaries and 2023 elections.
According to Lamido, these individuals are “platform seekers” using any party as a vehicle to achieve personal goals, rather than showing loyalty to party ideology.
“There’s a difference between genuine PDP members and those simply using it as a platform. If they believe they won’t get what they want in the PDP, they’re free to leave but not sabotage the party from within,” he added.
Lamido argued that the PDP had tolerated such conduct for far too long, contrary to its constitution, which allows for disciplinary measures against erring members.
He further declared that he would boycott future meetings of the PDP Board of Trustees unless decisive action is taken.
