Onyinyechi Basil, representing Anambra State, emerged victorious as Miss Universe Nigeria 2025 after a high-stakes finale held in Lagos on Saturday night.

The event, filled with glamour and cultural flair, saw Basil edge out Miss Lagos, Damilola Bolarinde, in a nail-biting finish, with the official announcement crowning her as the new queen.

Miss Bayelsa, Fortune Kurobo, secured the position of second runner-up, while Miss Ogun, Irene Ikediashi, claimed third runner-up. Miss Akwa Ibom, Idah Eno, also made it to the top five and was awarded the title of Miss Supranational Nigeria 2025.

From the original 22 contestants, only 10 advanced to the final stages, including strong contenders from Delta, Ekiti, Imo, Ebonyi, and Oyo States.

Each phase of the event from the traditional attire segment celebrating Nigeria’s rich heritage to the bold and body-positive swimwear round reflected the pageant’s evolving message of diversity and empowerment.

The show opened with energetic dance performances and maintained a festive atmosphere throughout.

Voting data released by the franchise revealed high public engagement, with Miss Delta, De-Blessing Asaboro, leading the poll with over 38,000 votes, followed closely by Miss Lagos and Miss Ekiti.

Hosted by Anthony Abraham and Victory Wilson, the finale drew a wide audience both in person and online, generating significant buzz across social media platforms.

Onyinyechi Basil now steps into her new role, taking over from Chidinma Adetshina, Miss Universe Nigeria 2024, and will represent Nigeria on the global stage at the upcoming Miss Universe competition.
