Miss Comfort Emmanson, the passenger at the center of a viral altercation involving an Ibom Air crew member, has narrated her side of the incident, describing it as traumatising and damaging to her reputation.
In a lengthy post shared via her Instagram handle, @soft_commy, Emmanson alleged that a flight attendant, identified as Julian Edwards, assaulted her during a flight from Uyo to Lagos on August 10. She claimed the crew member forcefully pulled off her wig, tore her clothing, damaged her phones, and cut off her gold jewelry.
According to her account, the dispute began during pre-flight checks when she struggled to switch off her phones. Despite explaining that one of the devices had a faulty power button, the attendant reportedly insisted she should turn it off manually, which led to a tense exchange.
Emmanson said the situation escalated after the plane landed in Lagos. While attempting to disembark, she alleged that Edwards blocked her path, insulted her by calling her a prostitute, and then physically attacked her.
“She dragged off my frontal wig, broke my phones, and tore my gold chain. The pain was unbearable. That was why I reacted and poked her in the face. I never planned to fight an elderly woman,” Emmanson recounted.
She further alleged that other airline staff joined in restraining her, leaving her bruised and humiliated. Videos of the confrontation later surfaced online, which she said worsened her trauma.
“The incident has left me deeply traumatised. My body is now all over social media; some people even turned my images into stickers. This has damaged my confidence, my reputation, and even my career prospects. I work in real estate, and I fear clients will no longer take me seriously,” she lamented.
Emmanson maintained that she had no intention of disobeying flight regulations and only wanted assistance in switching off her faulty phone. She appealed for understanding, stressing that she is “not a troublemaker or a nuisance.”
