Veteran Nigerian rapper Jude “M.I” Abaga has offered a rare glimpse into his personal life, revealing how his wife, Eniola Mafe, has been both his earliest supporter and most honest critic.

Speaking on The Podcast Network’s “Outside The Box”, the 43-year-old artist shared that Eniola was the first to financially back his creative agency, TASCK, writing a personal cheque before any external investors got involved.

“The very first cheque came from her. She’s been the most supportive person in my life,” he said.

But her involvement runs deeper than money. M.I described Eniola as actively engaged in his creative process filming performances, offering detailed critiques of his music, and providing ongoing support while managing her own career.

“She’s written ten-page critiques before I’ve even finished an idea. She shows up to events, attends meetings her presence is a gift.”

On marriage, M.I reflected on how it’s changed him, pulling him out of loneliness and giving him new balance.

“Marriage changed everything. For the first time, I don’t feel like I’m carrying the weight of life alone.”

Speaking on music, he highlighted his iconic track African Rapper No. 1 as one of the most challenging songs he’s ever written, despite its deceptively simple sound.

On politics, M.I recalled supporting the APC in 2015 out of hope for change. By 2023, however, disappointed by the system, he shifted his support to Labour Party’s Peter Obi for president, PDP for Senate, and Banky W for House of Representatives.

Now focused on advocacy and legacy, M.I is channeling energy into TASCK and nonprofit projects aimed at uplifting Nigeria’s creative industry.

“The war continues. Our job is to leave more than we take.”

M.I and Eniola married in September 2022, a partnership he credits with deeply shaping his personal and professional journey.
