The All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Parliament for the North-East Zone has issued a strong warning against rumors of replacing Vice President Kashim Shettima ahead of the 2027 general elections.

At a Friday press conference in Bauchi, the group’s chairman, Kabiru Kobi, emphasized that such a move could damage party unity and harm President Bola Tinubu’s re-election prospects.

Kobi expressed concerns that speculation about Shettima’s possible substitution is causing unrest within the APC, potentially undermining its electoral chances.

He urged party leaders to avoid internal conflicts and learn from past mistakes, referencing the Peoples Democratic Party’s 2015 loss as a cautionary example.

The APC Youth Parliament reaffirmed its full support for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket, describing them as “tested and trusted.” Kobi warned that any attempt to alter the joint ticket would generate lasting resentment and jeopardize the party’s success.

He further suggested that the attacks on Shettima are in fact aimed at President Tinubu, aiming to replace the Vice President with a less politically solid candidate. According to Kobi, this strategy would ultimately leave Tinubu vulnerable to public backlash.

The group pledged to continue mobilizing support for the Tinubu-Shettima team and called on all party members to unite. Kobi also highlighted rising tensions within the APC, cautioning that disunity could destabilize the party ahead of the elections.

In conclusion, Kobi reaffirmed confidence in Tinubu’s leadership and his bold economic decisions, underscoring the importance of party solidarity moving forward.
